    What it means

Literally “like the devils.” Used as a strong intensifier — “like hell,” “terribly,” “incredibly.” Similar to ‘jak cholera’ but slightly more emphatic. E.g. “zmęczony jak diabli” — dead tired.

    Vocabulary

    • diabeł — devil
    • diabli — devils (nominative plural, colloquial)

    Grammar note

'Jak diabli' — nominative plural used as an intensifying comparison after 'jak'.
