    What it means

Literally “one and the same thing.” Used to say two options are identical, it makes no difference which you choose — “it’s all the same,” “same difference,” “six of one, half a dozen of the other.” Common variants: ‘jeden pies’, ‘jeden czort’, ‘jeden diabeł’ — all mean exactly the same thing.

    Vocabulary

    • jeden — one, the same
    • pies — dog

    Grammar note

All variants follow the same pattern: 'jeden' + noun in nominative, used predicatively.

    Cultural context

The variety of nouns used (dog, devil, etc.) reflects the richness of Polish colloquial expression — all conveying the same dismissive equivalence.
